DARK SIEGE: THE NIGHTMARE RETURNS

The much anticipated sequel to Jason McLeod's breakout Best Selling debut novel Dark Siege: A Connecticut Family's Nightmare

In this true tale of demonic revenge, a Connecticut family, their friends, and their pets face the most vicious and wicked repercussions imaginable for standing up to the demonic spirits who have invaded their world.

In the late evening hours, after a demonic spirit enters her home and penetrates her mind, psychic medium Yvonne Saxon receives a series of horrific visions.

These visions reveal the diabolical spirits' plans to exact their revenge on everyone who was in any way involved in the McLaughlin case just two months earlier.

After several unsuccessful attempts to get through to and warn the family and her colleagues, Yvonne makes a last-ditch, desperate call to the Archdiocese in Boston —specifically, to Bishop Marcus Phelan, who had previously been so instrumental in that case.

Bishop Phelan realizes the grave danger they face when he meets misfortune while setting out on the long drive to Connecticut. Will he reach the beleaguered family in time? Can he save his friends from the savage attacks Yvonne has revealed to him in her desperate plea for help?

Dark Siege: The Nightmare Returns is the continuation of McLeod's most terrifying case of diabolical Infestation, Oppression, and Possession. His work was first published in his best-selling debut novel, Dark Siege: A Connecticut Family's Nightmare. Like its predecessor, it is a must-read for any paranormal enthusiast, investigator, or researcher - and most of all, for anyone who had endured, or who is currently experiencing paranormal activity for themselves. This book, like its predecessor, is a paranormal powerhouse. What makes it truly unique is McLeod's chapter-by-chapter analysis where he explains spirit activity through quantum physics, the universal laws of attraction, vibration, intention, and conscious manifestation.

JASON MCLEOD is a paranormal investigator, spiritualist, and empath. He has spent the last 28 years helping individual families deal with both the human spirits who linger in their lives, and the inhuman spirits who seek to ruin them. His training and experience were influenced by his close personal friends and mentors, the late Ed Warren and his wife, Lorraine. The Warrens, best-selling authors and movie consultants, started the modern ghost-hunting craze that thrives today.

McLeod presents engaging information on the subjects of spirituality, consciousness, quantum physics, meditation, metaphysics, paranormal investigation, and demonology at paranormal conventions, spirituality expositions, church events, and New Age events throughout the world, and on radio blog broadcasts.   Dark Siege: A Connecticut Family's Nightmare is the first book in the series. The Kindle edition is a best seller in the Occultism, Supernatural and Ghosts & Haunted Houses categories.

Chapter 1—Retribution

THE FULL MIDNIGHT MOON SAT HEAVILY in the violet December sky behind scattered gray clouds and the black, scraggly branches of the wide-spread oaks lining the property of Dr. Vincent Decker – parapsychologist, paranormal investigator, and seasoned demonologist. The lights of the main house cast a soft yellow glow upon the snow-covered lawn outside, but the rest of the house, including the outlying office, seemed as cold and dormant as the stale winter air. A sudden gust of wind swept over the lawn, accompanied by a whispering howl that came from both nowhere and everywhere at once. Then a light came to life inside the connecting passageway that led to the home-office.

Inside the long, antiquated hallway, Vincent reached his trembling hand out toward the closed maple door before him and felt for the black wrought-iron latch at its edge. He applied his thumb against the spade-shaped lever and pressed down forcefully until a loud, solid “clack” echoed throughout the candle-lit hallway. He pushed his hand away and the door creaked open slowly before the dark void in front of him.

As he cautiously entered, Vincent held the door open and pressed it against the dark stone wall. He reached out with his foot and maneuvered an iron gargoyle doorstop into position with his shoe in an effort to keep the door ajar and to allow the heat from the main house to cascade inside. When he was satisfied that it was held securely, Vincent stood there. It took many minutes of scanning the room, his gaze piercing the shadows, before he was able to relax in the confidence that he was indeed alone.

He moved deeper into the room. In doing so, he reached out and slowly approached his desk. When he'd found the corner, he fumbled in the darkness for the edge of a green stained-glass lamp, reached inside and delicately pulled down on the brass chain. Vincent squinted against the sudden bright light and held a hand up to block it out until his eyes had adjusted. He looked all around him, from the grand cabinets, bookshelves and tables lining the walls, to the neat rows of shelving aligned together in the center of the room. Displayed on every shelf and in practically every square inch of the tables were the many arcane objects of varying shapes, sizes, and compositions from the cases he had investigated over the years. Despite the impossible task of examining every single object in the vast expanse of the room, he instinctively felt that everything seemed to be in order.

He clutched the top edge of the burgundy studded-leather desk chair and went to the wall behind it. He admired the neat rows of audio cassettes he had amassed since he first began delving into the strange, mysterious paranormal world he had found himself unable to resist all these many years. There stood before him the records of hundreds of cases he had studied, most of them simply concerning earthbound human spirits who were found to be incapable of crossing over due to varied forms of unfinished business or unresolved conflicts.

Then there were the many cases that involved spirits of a much darker nature – spirits that had never walked the earth in human form. He didn’t like to think about those cases, nor of the scars that they left behind, but the dark spirits were from a different reality altogether, bordering on twilight. Its evil and blind terror was capable of becoming a part of the lives of the living in an instant, and lasting forever, despite any attempt to sway its incredible power. This realm was unseen and unheard most of the time, somewhere in-between the sunlit majesty of the physical world that we can see and touch, and the invisible, intangible realm of energy and spirit.

Vincent exhaled forcefully. He paused and then slowly raised one hand and reached behind his head. He scanned the desk before him as he pressed his fingers against his scalp. He moved his fingertips around in his hair and felt for the two rows of indentations left there during the most dangerous final moments of the McLaughlin Case, just two months earlier. He felt the tiny holes in his skull with the pad of his index finger. Once he'd found the divot, he couldn’t help that his attention and his eyes were immediately drawn to the small, hexagonal glass jewelry box that was sitting on the outside edge of his desk. Despair took hold of him, because he knew that each time he had left the room, he had placed the jewelry box on one of the many bookcase shelves in the center of the room, and each time he returned, the box was sitting on the right-hand corner of his desk. Each time he noticed that it had moved, it captivated him. He could do nothing to resist looking at and into the box. And once he did so, he could not turn his eyes away from it, no matter how hard he tried. This pattern was becoming all too routine and far too disturbing for his liking. Something had a hold of him and he knew, of course, what that something was.

Without warning, the hair on Vincent’s forearms stood on end. At the same time, he felt the familiar tingles on the top of his head. He knew he was being watched. There was no question in his mind. He drew a deep breath, gathered his courage, and held out his palm before him. He fell back a step and assumed a more defensive posture. “In the name of Jesus Christ, I command any negative spirits in this house to return to wherever it is you have come from!” Vincent gasped. He pressed his temples and stumbled back against the wall behind his chair. Cassette tapes became dislodged by the heavy collision. They began to rattle violently behind him. Vincent groaned. He exhaled forcefully from his nostrils to expel a rancid odor that had taken hold there. The odor quickly became overpowering. He doubled over, sucked in his breath and held his stomach. Then, unable to stave off the horrid stench, he pursed his lips and exhaled from his mouth forcefully. “Archangel Michael, defend…”

Without warning, a great force collided with his chest and blasted him back against the wall. Vincent moaned. Cassette tapes shot out of their slots and rained down all around him. He gathered his courage and shouted, “Defend me from this evil and send it away, in the name of all that is holy, in the name of Jesus Christ!” A baleful moan resonated throughout the room and a sooty black form darted away from him and flitted into the deeper recesses of the darkest part of the room.

Vincent gritted his teeth and opened the top desk drawer. He reached inside under a piece of purple velvet and wrapped his pudgy fingers around an old wooden crucifix. He pulled it out of the drawer, kissed its face and held it before him with authority. “I command you to leave this house in the name of Jesus Christ!” He walked boldly toward the shadows. When he took one step further, he felt something come up from behind him and tug his arm back to his side. Then from before him, in one powerful swipe, the crucifix was suddenly and violently batted out of his hand. Vincent felt his stomach turn in knots. He heaved, and brought his arm back toward him –and upon doing so, knocked the jewelry box off the desk. As it fell into the air, the contents clattered inside the glass; the sound became louder and louder as if a hundred wind chimes were clanging inside his head. The jewelry box bounced onto the leather chair and turned upside down, as Vincent wrapped his arms around his midsection and groaned. He fell back and tried to catch himself on the arms of the chair, but it eluded his feeble attempt to grasp it and spun around instead, the twisting motion flinging the jewelry box off the chair. As he fell downward, the nauseating stench of a thousand rotting corpses encapsulated him and permeated his nostrils. Vincent collapsed onto the floor and landed on the plush red Persian carpet. The jewelry box struck the carpet before him on its edge, rolled directly in front of his eyes, fell over, landed upside down, and came to rest there – just as Vincent slowly faded out of consciousness.

THE NIGHTMARE RETURNS INITIAL REVIEWS:

Praise for
JASON MCLEOD
and
Dark Siege: The Nightmare Returns

Dark Siege is a truly magnificent book. It easily brought the reader into a world where they witness a family struggling with demonic forces. Because the writing and the characters in this book were relatable in so many ways, the reader could easily find themselves attached to this family and rooting for their recovery. And that is where Dark Siege: The Nightmare Returns comes in, placing the reader directly in the world of the character and this world is filled with havoc, panic, and possession. This book paints a real depiction of what individuals endurewhen they are faced with the most brutal force that man face can face: demonic possession. Dark Siege: The Nightmare Returns is not for the faint of heart. It is a very open and honest presentation regarding Succubi attacks and the author clearly demonstrated that he understood the true nature of those attacks. The reader should be prepared to enter into a world where the characters' lives are turned upside down and where each one holds on to the possibility that help is just around the corner.”

Jason McLeod guides us through the harrowing continuation of the events that terrorized a Connecticut family in his breakout, best seller Dark Siege: A Connecticut Family's Nightmare. This sequel is a terrifying journey – a real account of what can happen when innocent teenagers dabble in the obscure, unseen world of the negative occult. Unlike the first book which had a gradual build that led to an epic battle between the good and evil, this story hits you on the head with a two-by-four from the beginning and never lets up. One unique attribute of McLeod's Dark SiegeSeries are the final sections of the books which contain the chapter analysis where the author demonstrates that these things really do happen. I recommend the book wholeheartedly as it has a clear prose and narrative and is packed full of real-world experience from one of the most informed and talented paranormal investigators.”

Cinematic story telling from start to finish. The descriptions in this book were outstanding. The prose dynamic. This book is a roller coaster ride through the dark chasms of hell as the poor McLaughlin family and their friends and pets endure real demoniacal retribution that would send any of the Stars in the scripted tabloid television shows like Ghost Adventures running for their lives. After first reading McLeod's astounding debut novel Dark Siege: A Connecticut Family's Nightmare, I wondered if his second book could compare. This book was far above and beyond my expectations.”

AGAIN, McLeod does not fail to deliver the perfect, bone-chilling terror. His first book scared me to death and I could barely gather the courage to pick it back up and finish it.
